About the Role
Join us at an exciting time as we embark on our data transformation journey, helping shape a data-driven future of data here at Newcastle Building Society.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll develop test and deploy large scale data integrations from internal and third party sources, support the maintenance of complex data storage solution and implemented ETL processes to clean and transform complex data sets.

You’ll use data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy and ensure data products are built in line with required data governance principles. You’ll deliver reliable and efficient data pipelines, integrations and infrastructure, whilst building data products that solve business problems.

Advocating for Data Management and Governance to help inject a data driven culture across the organisation will be a core element of the role, as will working with the Product Manager, Lead Data Engineer, Data Engineers, Data Architect, Data Analyst, Data SME’s, Project and Business Analysis teams to understand need to ensure products solve business problems.

About You
You’ll have extensive knowledge of cloud platforms and warehousing solutions, preferably Microsoft Azure and Data Bricks, however, we’re also open to applications from candidates with experience from other cloud providers like AWS or GCP.

Strong technical experience with ETL techniques, programming languages and data engineering tools such as SQL, Python, R and Apache is fundamental for the role, as is good knowledge of data integration and data quality management best practices.

You’ll be an experienced agile practitioner, with understanding of methodologies, principles and agile best practice required to deliver at pace. The ability to translate complicated technical concepts to unable understanding with functional domain stakeholders is essential for the role, as is strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems within large datasets.
