As a Data Engineer you will be able to build, optimise and maintain data applications, systems and services. This role combines the discipline of software engineering with the knowledge and experience of building data solutions in order to deliver business value.


You will be based in a growing technology team that has significant investment and is modernising the entire technology landscape within Moto. The goal is to add value to the organisation by providing solutions that make business processes simpler and more efficient through technology.


You will work as part of a growing data team across multiple projects. Working with some of the UK biggest retail, hospitality and catering brands, this role is instrumental in both integrating Moto’s systems and enabling insight and analytics across Moto.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Optimise and troubleshoot data workflows.
  • Implement best practices for data engineering and software development.

As our Data Engineer, you will have experience of:

  • • Strong proficiency in Python
  • SQL skills (we use SQL Server in our legacy environment and Snowflake in the cloud)
  • Experience working with large databases, transactional datasets, and data warehouses with batch data processing jobs
  • Familiarity with XML and JSON data structures, as well as CSV file integration
  • Experience getting data from (REST) APIs
  • Knowledge of data warehouse design (dimensional modelling, star schema, kimball)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or GCP).
  • Familiarity with git-based source control
