About the AI Capability

We are a team of AI researchers, Applied AI scientists, data and software engineers within EIT. We work across all the humane endeavours, supported by world-class data platforms and large-scale compute.

AI is at the heart of how EIT tackles humanity's most pressing and enduring challenges. Our mission is to harness state-of-the-art statistical machine learning to 10x the impact of EIT’s programmes and discover novel AI approaches that lead to 100x impact in the future.

The Role

As the Data Engineer, you will drive the deployment of a data platform which will underpin the development of cutting-edge AI at EIT.

You will be responsible for components of the data infrastructure and pipeline development and will play a crucial role in the architecting scalable data systems that power our AI models and products.

This role requires technical expertise in scaling data processing systems for high performance AI applications and the ability to partner and collaborate with a diverse of teams including scientists, innovators, operations and researchers from different fields.


Challenges you will own:

  • Design and implement components of a robust, scalable data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Lead the development of data processing systems using cloud technologies
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval for high-performance AI applications
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to support model development and deployment
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance our data capabilities
  • Partner and collaborate with a diverse set of teams incl. science, research, product, business development and operations


Who we are looking for:

  • Significant experience in data engineering at scale (5+ years)
  • Strong knowledge of data management tools and technologies including ETL frameworks, database engines, and file and object stores
  • Experience building secure/scalable platforms/products on cloud
  • Experience partnering with research and product teams
  • Strong software engineering experience with software design / architecture skills
  • Extensive enterprise programming experience writing production code using any mainstream programming languages, e.g. Python
  • Experience with data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing
  • Familiarity with ML/AI workflows and data requirements
