Job Description

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.

The Data Analyst is responsible for providing data analysis support to the SPA PMO team. They will be responsible for the collection, quality review and analysis of project, programme and performance data monthly as well as ad hoc data analysis projects within the team. A key responsibility will be to assist the team to improve the visibility and communication of information using and maintaining dashboards / reports in Power BI.

The role is hybrid, with 1-2 days per week in the Peterborough office, the rest working from home.

Responsibilities
  • Identify sources of information to support improved reporting within the @one Alliance.
  • Work with members of the @one Digital Team to understand data requirements and advise on opportunities to improve data collection opportunities.
  • Review the quality of current data sources and make recommendations on improvement or alternative sources.
  • Working closely with performance team for aligning into the reporting hub.
  • Be the data analysis expert within the @one Digital Team, enabling enhanced understanding of data and performance in the business.
  • Advise on improvement of current data analysis activities within the team, developing existing and new data analysis tools as required.
  • Ensure that data analysis is carried out consistently across the @one Digital Team, identifying and promoting areas of best practice.
  • Provide dashboard and report creation, modification and management support to the @one Digital Team.
  • Advise the @one Digital Team on the layout and functionality of dashboards to maximise the value and clarity of reported data to the business.
  • Provide support for migration of existing dashboards and reports to preferred platforms such as Power BI and Excel.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained.
  • Ensure completion of a full Induction to H&S in accordance with Company policies, procedures, standards &/or guidance.
  • Ensure adherence to safe working practices including completing audits in line with schedule.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with the Working Time Directive.
  • Ensure you are compliant with the use of mandatory safety monitoring equipment, near miss reporting and compliance with the company procedures.
  • Maintain H&S standards to enable a zero-accident culture.
  • Actively work with your team, line manager and the H&S Team to improve upon H&S procedures where possible.
  • Report all near misses through the appropriate channel to prevent future accidents.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience in a data collection, data quality and data analysis

Experience of creating data reports and dashboards

Experience of building dashboards and reports in Power BI

Experience building queries within SQL programming language

Data analysis and interpretation skills

Takes responsibility and accountability for own tasks

  • Keen and willing to learn and develop
Qualifications
  • Strong IT skills, especially MS Excel at advanced level
