Data Analyst – London – Hybrid – 6 month FTC - £53,000 pro rata


SQL – Power BI - Python

 

A well established and growing business based in Central London (near Waterloo) are looking for a capable, confident Data Analyst with expertise in SQL and Power BI to join them on a 6 month FTC.

 

As the organisation’s sole Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the operational elements of the Data Strategy. Working closely with the Director of Technology and Data, you will help drive the transformation of how they use data, enhancing insight, decision-making and impact across the organisation.

 

The primary goal is to ensure that they have the technical capabilities and structures in place, to use data from across the business to maximise efficiency. You will lead the establishment and maturity of foundational components, including data governance, quality and process validation. You'll collaborate with business, technical and supplier teams, to advance automation, data warehousing and ethical AI capabilities.

 

You are responsible for implementing and governing the data architecture that empowers colleagues across the organisation to access and interpret trusted data independently. This fundamental work helps embed and scale a culture of self-service and data-led decision-making. Your contribution will ensure trusted, timely and actionable insights, that directly support strategic objectives, key metrics and required regulatory and funding reporting.

 

Key responsibilities of this Data Analyst role will include:

 

Insight and Reporting

 

Identify, scope and implement opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance the reporting architecture.

Implement and maintain the data architecture necessary to support the Insights and Policy teams, enabling them to produce strategic insights and reports.

Collaborate with colleagues who lead on reporting and insights to develop and promote a self-service reporting approach across the organisation.

Lead and drive the development of advanced analytics, including predictive and prescriptive models.

 

Data Governance and Quality

 

Own and drive the implementation of the data quality framework, including the design and maintenance of exception reports and priority status reporting.

Take a lead role in the development of the Data Governance Forum, coordinating with Data Owners and Stewards to proactively identify, flag and resolve complex data quality issues.

 

Systems and Integration Support

 

Work with IT and digital colleagues to validate data flows between systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Help review and map key systems, processes and APIs, to support the development of a central data warehouse.

 

Analytics and Innovation

 

Lead and drive the development of advanced analytics, including predictive and prescriptive models.

Initiate and manage pilots of ethical AI and machine learning use cases within the data lake(s).

Identify, scope and implement opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance reporting efficiency.

 

To be suitable for this Data Analyst role you will have the following relevant experience:

 

Significant proven experience in a data analyst or business intelligence role.

Strong proficiency in tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar dashboarding platforms.

Proven ability to independently lead and drive complex data projects and strategic initiatives with minimal supervision.

Demonstrable experience in mentoring or guiding junior team members or business stakeholders on data best practice.

Experience working with data validation, cleansing and reporting processes.

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, ultimately influencing strategic decision-making at all organisational levels.

Experience with data warehousing or centralised reporting environments.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

 

The salary on offer for this role is up to £53,000 pro rata.
