Zeelo is hiring a Data Analyst to join our team! In this role, you will lead the charge in extracting value from data by creating useful data products that drive efficiencies and better decisions across Zeelo and its clients. In addition, you will help Zeelo’s Data Team become the center of excellence on data and responsible for educating other teams, establishing best practices, and facilitating knowledge sharing on data-related matters across the company.

Zeelo has many rich data sources about its routes, trips, vehicles, tickets, riders, and more. You will use a variety of tools to work with this data and ultimately deliver products such as dashboards, reports, and models. You will also help build, configure, and apply artificial intelligence systems to business problems. Zeelo’s data maturity is growing, and you will help incorporate advanced analytics tools into the business effectively.

We’re a fast-moving transit-tech business with plenty of exciting challenges—a quickly scaling business, data-hungry customers, and the chaos of a real-world transit operation. If you thrive in an environment where you can make a real impact, we’d love to chat.

What you will do:

  • Work with transportation data including location data, scheduling data, ridership data, and financial data.
  • Design, build, and maintain business intelligence dashboards for purposes such as performance management, business strategy support, operational support, cost analysis and pricing strategy.
  • Understand Zeelo’s business processes, identify and define problems, and come up with data-driven solutions that solve problems and add value.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis for business decisions and client requests.
  • Analyze opportunities to make bus deployments more efficient and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Use data to monitor whether service-level agreements (SLAs) are being adhered to and assist Zeelo in staying in adherence with its SLAs.
  • Work with data engineering to develop data infrastructure to power accurate and efficient analytics.
  • Help build, configure, test and deploy artificial intelligence technology (machine learning models, large language models) within the business.
  • Be a champion of data and analytics within the company, educating team members and supporting data use throughout the business.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience working in a role with a strong business intelligence, insights, or analytics component
  • Demonstrated experience working with business processes, defining problems, crafting and launching solutions, and practicing continuous improvement. Experience with process improvement frameworks and/or project management frameworks is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience creating data products with Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar data visualization software.
  • Experience with ETL pipelines or data warehouses.
  • Experience building unit tests or working with testing frameworks.
  • Ability to effectively convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A passion for sustainability, technology, and improving mobility.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with dbt.
  • Experience with transportation systems.
  • Experience with free-text analysis.
  • Experience with programming in Python or similar languages.
  • Experience with machine learning models.
  • Experience with geospatial analytics, mapping products such as ArcGIS or with route planning or scheduling software.
