Data Migration Lead - Insurance Experience - Hybrid Working Our client, a global Insurance broker, are currently looking to hire a Data Migration Lead with experience in the Reinsurance sector. to join the client on a contract basis. This role would be hybrid working with the site based in London.

The client are seeking a Data Migration Lead to drive the data migration workstream for a strategic initiative transforming treaty reinsurance operations. This role will oversee data migration strategy, planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement for the migration of complex data from legacy systems to the new platform.

In this role you will define and lead a comprehensive data migration strategy tailored to reinsurance, ensuring alignment with business goals, IT architecture, and compliance requirements. The role requires expertise in data migration, stakeholder management, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on reinsurance operations.

Define Data Migration Strategy and Planning
Lead the development of a comprehensive data migration strategy for project, including scope, approach, governance, tools, timelines, and success criteria. Ensure alignment with business objectives, IT architecture, and compliance requirements.
Develop detailed migration plans that align with project timelines. Coordinate ETL processes, data cleansing, and transformation activities with internal IT, business and external vendors.

Document Business Data Requirements and Data Mapping
Work collaboratively with business analysts, reinsurance teams and product specialists to capture and document data requirements.
Develop and maintain migration documentation, including data mapping, migration plans, and validation scripts.
Review legacy systems and define mapping logic to the target platform, ensuring accurate data migration within the defined scope.
Create detailed documentation of migration rules, data lineage, and system changes.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance
~ Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards.


Engage closely with key business stakeholders, the Project Manager, Programme Manager, vendors, and Group Data to ensure data definitions and migration logic are clearly communicated and implemented.


Deliver Data Migration
Coordinate and run data migration activities, including test migrations, reconciliations, and cutover planning.
Work closely with technology providers and project team to resolve migration issues and optimise processes.
Validate and Reconcile Data
~ Design and execute validation protocols to confirm completeness and accuracy of migrated data. Reconcile migrated data against source systems and financial ledgers.


Support System Testing and UAT
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and post-migration validation to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Deliver training and support to business users as required, focusing on data migration processes and outcomes.

Coordinate cutover activities during go-live, monitor post-migration data quality, and resolve related issues during stabilisation and audit review.


Proven experience leading data migration projects within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services environments.
Strong knowledge of data structures, ETL tools, and migration methodologies.
Experience with reinsurance business processing is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to produce migration artefacts such as data mapping documents, migration plans, and validation reports.
Delivery focused, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision in an agile environment.
Based in the UK but able to work flexible hours to support US and UK activity.
