Overview of Y TREE

We are a rapidly growing WealthTech business that is re‑defining how individuals and families connect and engage with their money. We provide our clients with control over their personal finances, enhancing their ability to achieve their financial and life aspirations.

We are harnessing sophisticated portfolio analytics, innovative behavioural psychology and cutting‑edge UX/UI to create a revolutionary experience and transformational outcomes for our users. The business was founded in 2017 by three successful entrepreneurs and business‑builders with diverse experiences and skill‑sets in Technology, Corporate Advice and Investment Management and is backed by some of Europe’s leading investors.

Role Overview

Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date data is at the heart of our business, forming the foundation of everything we do for our clients. Given the sensitive nature of the information and the high‑profile clients we serve, we seek candidates with exceptional integrity and maturity. You will have privileged access to highly confidential information, so trustworthiness is paramount.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for Junior Analysts who are eager to grow and learn hands‑on. You'll have a unique chance to thrive and develop within our distinctive approach to personal finance, gaining invaluable experience along the way.

The Role

  • You will accurately input and maintain confidential financial data for our clients, empowering the Advice and Client Service teams to deliver precise and timely investment recommendations.
  • Under the guidance of your team leader and in collaboration with your colleagues, you’ll ensure the data quality meets our high client standards.
  • You’ll also have the chance to sharpen your stakeholder management skills by effectively communicating with internal stakeholders, keeping everyone informed about progress and any significant updates.

Requirements
The Technical Bit

  • You should be comfortable with numbers, including basic Excel and financial maths, to adeptly handle numerical data as part of your daily responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in G Suite (G Sheets and G Slides) is a big plus.
  • While we’re eager to nurture and develop junior specialists, having prior experience in similar financial roles would be a significant advantage.
  • We want you to have a knack for identifying process efficiencies and a keen interest in leveraging technology (we are a Tech company!) to automate tasks, driving scalability and effectiveness.
  • We firmly believe that technical skills can be acquired and learned, and we’re enthusiastic about helping you grow. Therefore, we’re seeking someone with an inquisitive mind and a thirst for learning.

The Person

  • To excel in this role, you should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and be highly responsive to inquiries and requests.
  • If you thrive in an organised environment, finding satisfaction in completing tasks and ticking off lists - we’ll find the common language!
  • We’re looking for an energetic self‑starter, who thrives on autonomy, adept at prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines with ease.
  • Being confident and tenacious in your dealings with external parties, you’ll be expected to represent our company professionally and effectively.
  • Our community is where our power lies, so you must be an effective collaborator and confident working as part of a small team that is building a business.
  • We are not a big financial institution (yet!) so you will need to be solutions‑led and have the impetus and ability to proactively seek answers.
  • We embrace a flat hierarchy and ego‑free environment valuing collaboration, inclusivity and mutual respect, and we would like you to share our values and have a people‑centred approach.

What’s in it for you?

  • Once eligible, you’ll be able to enroll onto our private healthcare plan through Vitality. This includes perks like 50% off premium gym memberships and access to their exclusive rewards programme.
  • Support for your mental health and wellbeing through our employee assistance programme.
  • 25 days of annual leave per year. This is 25 days each year where we expect you to turn your phone off and switch off; we would never ask you to book leave for a doctor's appointment or to see your children’s school plays.
  • Regular team socials to help you switch off from work and get to know your colleagues in an environment away from your desk. We ensure socials are well‑balanced and offer a variety of activities to suit different needs so you always feel welcome.
  • A welcoming, dog‑friendly London office with appropriate spaces to cater for those with varying needs in the form of various breakout spaces and silent booths.
  • A 3% employer pension contribution as standard, with generous additional employer contributions if you choose to make your pension contributions via salary sacrifice.
  • As well as a range of family‑friendly policies, support towards professional qualifications, electric car schemes and more!

Our mission at Y TREE is to build diversity in our teams; diversity of thought, culture, backgrounds and perspectives. Please come as you are and let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make to support you in your application process. Additionally, if you don’t feel you meet 100% of the requirements please apply anyway if you feel you can demonstrate your suitability to the role. Please note, that sponsorship is not available for this role.

Machine Learning Jobs for Career Switchers in Their 30s, 40s & 50s (UK Reality Check)

Are you considering a career change into machine learning in your 30s, 40s or 50s? You’re not alone. In the UK, organisations across industries such as finance, healthcare, retail, government & technology are investing in machine learning to improve decisions, automate processes & unlock new insights. But with all the hype, it can be hard to tell which roles are real job opportunities and which are just buzzwords. This article gives you a practical, UK-focused reality check: which machine learning roles truly exist, what skills employers really hire for, how long retraining realistically takes, how to position your experience and whether age matters in your favour or not. Whether you come from analytics, engineering, operations, research, compliance or business strategy, there is a credible route into machine learning if you approach it strategically.

How to Write a Machine Learning Job Ad That Attracts the Right People

Machine learning now sits at the heart of many UK organisations, powering everything from recommendation engines and fraud detection to forecasting, automation and decision support. As adoption grows, so does demand for skilled machine learning professionals. Yet many employers struggle to attract the right candidates. Machine learning job adverts often generate high volumes of applications, but few applicants have the blend of modelling skill, engineering awareness and real-world experience the role actually requires. Meanwhile, strong machine learning engineers and scientists quietly avoid adverts that feel vague, inflated or confused. In most cases, the issue is not the talent market — it is the job advert itself. Machine learning professionals are analytical, technically rigorous and highly selective. A poorly written job ad signals unclear expectations and low ML maturity. A well-written one signals credibility, focus and a serious approach to applied machine learning. This guide explains how to write a machine learning job ad that attracts the right people, improves applicant quality and strengthens your employer brand.

Maths for Machine Learning Jobs: The Only Topics You Actually Need (& How to Learn Them)

Machine learning job adverts in the UK love vague phrases like “strong maths” or “solid fundamentals”. That can make the whole field feel gatekept especially if you are a career changer or a student who has not touched maths since A level. Here is the practical truth. For most roles on MachineLearningJobs.co.uk such as Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Scientist, Data Scientist, NLP Engineer, Computer Vision Engineer or MLOps Engineer with modelling responsibilities the maths you actually use is concentrated in four areas: Linear algebra essentials (vectors, matrices, projections, PCA intuition) Probability & statistics (uncertainty, metrics, sampling, base rates) Calculus essentials (derivatives, chain rule, gradients, backprop intuition) Basic optimisation (loss functions, gradient descent, regularisation, tuning) If you can do those four things well you can build models, debug training, evaluate properly, explain trade-offs & sound credible in interviews. This guide gives you a clear scope plus a six-week learning plan, portfolio projects & resources so you can learn with momentum rather than drowning in theory.
