Global Health Building [currently under construction], Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford and in the meantime based at Centre for Human Genetics, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BN as well as other buildings within the Headington area We currently have an exciting and unique new opportunity for an experienced Building and Facilities Manager to support the Nuffield Department of Medicine’s brand-new Global Health Building. The new building will create a multi-departmental hub for cutting-edge and world-leading Global Health research. The new Global Health Building is due to be completed in mid-2026 and is located on the Old Road Campus, alongside the Big Data Institute, the Nuffield Department of Population Health, and other key parts of the NDM. This location will create a focal point for researchers in this field highlighting Oxford’s strength in Global Health. The building will be multi-departmental comprising four floors which will provide meeting, teaching, breakout, and office space for approximately 339 staff and the delivery of masters teaching programmes. You will be responsible for liaising with the Oxford University Estates Services, the design team, building contractors and key stakeholders during the period of design and construction concerning user requirement and the operation of the building. You will obtain a full understanding of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure for the building including building management control systems. You will work closely with Estates Services to ensure the building is ready for handover, understand proper operation of the building and its equipment, optimise plant running times, ensure efficient use of utilities and ensure that planned preventive maintenance is in place. You will liaise with various IT teams and telecommunications staff to ensure that all services are in place and set up appropriately in time for occupation while also monitoring to ensure that all IT/AV facilities are set up and ready for use. It is essential that you have significant and demonstrable experience of managing buildings. You will need to have experience of establishing, procurement and managing maintenance contracts and services. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to set up and maintain new operating standards, processes and procedures. Strong management, interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential. Ideally you will have experience of running a building with research and teaching activities as well as extensive AV equipment, and will have membership of a relevant professional body.
