Our top telecoms client is looking for a BI Data Analyst to work on a contract basis in Irlam - (hybrid - 3 days in Manchester office, 2 days from home)
Our Client has a requirement for a BI Data Analyst, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Irlam.
Role Purpose:


  • The BI Data Analyst, the role will be responsible for leading and developing the Freedom Fibre (FFL) reporting views to ensure data driven insights which are under-pinned by a validated dataset, aligning to the data definitions set out by the business.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain Reports to meet the needs of our customers (internal & external), as well as any other internal requirements.
  • Able to proficiently use MS Excel and reporting tools (PowerBI, Superset) and interrogate databases (e.g. SQL)
  • Analyse, mine, and process internal data using datasets from business systems to deliver a validated output.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal FFL departments to ensure the BI Team meets all reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Input into new system selection, and upgrades to ensure data for reporting is correctly generated from these systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, highlight data discrepancies, and create operational procedures to address data quality.
  • Work within the relevant FFL policies e.g. Information Security
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert in your allocated business area, and to cross train other BI Team members in this area’s needs.
  • Produce BI reports and chats communicating trends within the data
  • Regularly conduct checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of system data, using appropriate tools to automate data processing tasks, enhancing efficiency and insight generation.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and administer reporting solutions to support decision-making.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders, fostering data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
  • Analyse data to identify trends and provide recommendations on how to address or improve these trends.
  • Research ways to make better use of company data and to better produce results using automation.
  • With supervision, synthesize data to form recommendations and actionable insights.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing datasets, and performance indicators to locate and correct issues with the data.
    Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
  • Excellent skills on Microsoft applications, e.g. Excel formulas, pivots, and charts, PowerBI dashboards
  • Strong knowledge of Data Management platform
  • Ability to analyse, model & interpret data, including interpreting trends and/or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases
  • Previous experience within Telecoms, specifically Fibre related products and understanding of network topologies such as Point to Point (POP) / 10 Gigabit passive optical network (XGS-PON)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of programming principles, previous excel work or python, working with conditional formulas/expressions (IF-ELSE logic)
  • The ability to present data/information concisely to all levels required, including members of senior management team.
  • Ideally qualified to degree level in a relevant subject, or experience equivalent to this
  • Power BI and/or other similar or relevant qualifications/skills
