Job Description:

Associate, ESG Data Analytics

The Research Department at Dimensional is integral both in the successful day-to-day functioning of the firm and in developing Dimensional’s long-term strategy. The team produces high-quality, industry-leading research on investments and financial markets that is of interest to clients. The team also leads the development of the firm’s investment approach, the application of that approach through portfolio management and trading, and the implementation of technology solutions that make the investment process more efficient.

Investment Analytics and Data (IAD) is part of the Research Department within Dimensional. Data and data analysis are at the underpinnings of how Dimensional constructs and manages portfolios and works to provide the best investment experience possible for our clients. IAD is responsible for and has ownership of investment data, which means managing data from acquisition through distribution, driving analysis to create information from data, and creating the information and analysis consumed by internal and external reports. IAD is a hub group touching numerous areas of the implementation of the investment process and interacting with most other departments within Dimensional.

The London IAD team seeks an experienced ESG data analyst capable of supporting key ESG initiatives globally. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Monitor and drive efficiency in the ESG data management process: collecting, analysing, and integrating data for both internal and external use.  Investigate existing and new ESG-related regulations and similar requirements globally, understanding and explaining how to match regulatory needs with appropriate data points. Ensure regulatory compliance by furnishing fundamental data for frameworks such as SFDR, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, SDR, etc. and staying current with ESG regulations. Assist in the creation and monitoring of systematic, regular validations to ensure the delivery of high quality ESG datasets used in the global investments process as well as regulatory and client reporting. Support Dimensional's ESG operational processes around investments and ensure that tools and systems built follow appropriate business logic. Own and help further define ESG as a data product. Interface with investment teams to answer complex and nuanced questions with respect to our ESG-related investment strategies. Gather and define requirements for core business systems in partnership with teams across the organization. Contribute to ongoing efficiency efforts through automation, process design, and implementation.

Qualifications & skills:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in quantitative subject required. Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Knowledge of current ESG regulations and initiatives such as SFDR, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, UN Global Compact Principles, ESMA Name Rules etc. Deep understanding of ESG datasets across various data vendors such as MSCI and ISS. Experience working with large datasets, performing quantitative analysis, and using SQL, T-SQL, or similar data management tools. Experience in Python is a plus. Self-starter capable of managing multiple projects and the ability to perform effectively under pressure. Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills. Ability to work with details and ensure accuracy while maintaining a big picture focus. Ability to analyse and interpret complex information from various sources. Ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical teams. Intellectual curiosity combined with attention to detail.
