The Data Science Manager will support the strategyteam in Europe. As a member of the data science team, you will needto understand tactical and strategic objectives of the strategyteam, identify ways to support the team by creating data sciencesolutions, and deliver them. This role reports to the Strategy DataScience lead and involves collaboration with various Visadepartments to understand their requirements and create data-drivensolutions. Responsibilities * Evangelizes the creative use of datascience to solve business problems for our internal functions(e.g., Marketing, Product, Strategy, etc.). This role will mainlysupport the strategy team. * Works with internal teams to drivedata science business development opportunities across theorganization. * Identifies how data science and predictivetechniques can be used to enhance client profitability, card, andpayments portfolio management across acquisition, usage, andretention. * Works with our internal teams on conducting VisaNetdata analysis on key metrics to articulate solutions. * Creates anddelivers powerful business-centric insights from data throughbetter visualization and storyboarding. * Collaborates withinternal partners to fully understand business requirements anddesired business outcomes. * Defines detailed analytic scope andmethodology, and creates analytic plans. * Executes on the analyticplans with appropriate data mining and statistical techniques.Ensures project delivery within timelines and budget requirements.Ensures all project documentation is up to date and all projectsare reviewed per analytic plan. * Enhances existing solutions andapproaches by promoting new methodology and best practices in thedata science field. What we’re after… * Graduate/Post Graduatedegree (e.g., Master’s or Ph.D.) in a Quantitative field such asStatistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science,Economics, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.Results-oriented with strong analytical, consultative, andproblem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual andanalytical rigor. * Hands-on experience with modern distributedsystems, including both Hadoop/SQL and Apache Spark. * Hands-onexperience with one or more data analytics/programming tools suchas R/Python. * Experience in the application of predictive modelingand machine learning techniques to business problems. PreferredQualifications * Experience working in the payments industry (bank,credit reference agencies, Fintech) or management consulting firm.Hands-on experience processing extremely large data sets.Knowledge of payment network transactional data is a plus. *Team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, withthe ability to tailor data-driven results to various audiencelevels. * Proven skills in translating analytics output toactionable recommendations and delivery. * Fluency in English.
