Job Title: Data Migration EngineerRequisition ID: 121003 Location: Customer sites in London (minimumof 3 days per week) with occasional travel to other customer sitesand some overseas travel Grade: GG10 - GG11 Referral Bonus: £5,000About the role We are looking for an experienced Data MigrationEngineer to join our Digital Defence Services team followingcontinuous growth and success. Within Digital Defence Services, weare a critical partner to the UK Ministry of Defence in theiradoption of secure digital solutions that enable multi-domainintegration and data exploitation, which provides the advantage tothose who serve and protect us. Positioned within a thrivingDigital Defence Services Business Unit and part of a wider vibrantSecurity Consulting Community from across other Sectors, you willbe supported in the role and have opportunity learn and develop,with clear pathways defined for your career progression in theorganisation. As a Data Migration Engineer you will be experiencedin: Analysing requirements and design and understands how data isused, manipulated and processed Implementing, testing andconfiguring code based on traditional RDBMS and/or Big Dataapproaches to deliver data driven solutions Coding in one or morerelevant programming languages, e.g. SQL, Python, Scala etc...Having an understanding of one or more relevant data storagesolutions, e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Elastic,Hadoop, MongoDB etc Using appropriate software development tools,e.g. source control Following industry standard disciplines andbest practices About you You will have experience in many of thefollowing: Familiarity with the packages and frameworks used by BAESystems, namely ElasticSearch, NiFi, Python, MS SQL Server;(Essential) Close collaboration and communication with ourstakeholders through the lifecycle of a project to analyse existingdata and business processes and develop and deliver successful datamigration projects; Performing in-depth technical analysis tounderstand data complexities, client requirements, and desiredoutcomes; Identifying, addressing, and communicating potentialdata-related issues to all stakeholders to ensure project success;Modelling data and executing data manipulation, mapping from sourceto target systems using custom ETL process and tools; Providingtechnical guidance and support to business stakeholders and teamson data migration best practices and ensure the integrity andquality of data; Creating and maintaining detailed documentation ofdata migration processes and procedures; Troubleshooting andresolving data migration issues efficiently. Due to the nature ofthe business and requirements in this role, you must: Hold anMoD/Partner DV Be a UK National Be able to work on-site at one ofthe customer sites in London (minimum of 3 days per week) withoccasional travel to other customer sites; Be willing to workoverseas when required.
