SR2 is working with a cutting-edge simulation and decision intelligence company, to help them scale theirmodelling capability. We’re looking for anApplied Scientist/Data Scientistto join their multidisciplinary team building predictive models of cities — frompopulation behaviour and infrastructure impact to transport, economy, and terrain.
This role sits at the intersection of scientific modelling, geospatial data, and simulation tooling. You’ll be responsible fordesigning, validating, and implementing modelsthat help government clients explore complex “what if” scenarios at national scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and implement models forhuman behaviour, social systems, and population dynamics
  • Translate customer requirements intoscientifically robust simulationsand decision tools
  • Build and deliverproduction-grade models and notebooksin Python
  • Evaluate and integratethird-party data sourcesinto synthetic environments
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to scale model delivery and usability
  • Analyse and present simulation outputs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Advocate formodel explainability, rigour, and responsible data storytelling

Experience:

  • Proficiency inPythonand strong background inscientific or mathematical modelling
  • Experience in one or more of:crowd modelling, agent-based modelling, social media or behaviour simulation
  • Understanding ofgeospatial dataand how it influences population or infrastructure systems
  • Full lifecycle experience fromliterature review to prototype, implementation, and validation
  • Strong communicator, capable ofstorytelling through dataand explaining simulation results
  • STEM degree with amathematical focus(PhD desirable but not essential)

The Details:

  • Rate: £650-700p/d
  • 6 months rolling (2 years+ project)
  • Location: 2 days per week in central London
  • Mission-led projects working at the cutting edge of national digital infrastructure
  • Work alongside experts in engineering, data science, and urban systems
