About The Job

Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to facilitate the adoption of its products among customers and collaborate with them to address complex technical challenges. You will be an integral part of the Applied AI Engineering team, driving the deployment of Mistral AI products and building complex enterprise use-cases. You will work with customers from pre-sale to post-implementation to ensure our solutions meet and exceed expectations.

You will manage customer relations involving multiple stakeholders (CEO/CTO, data scientists, and software engineers) and serve as a key resource in externalizing our research in production settings.

What you will do
  • You’ll individually help deploy production use cases with a considerable business impact across various industries.
  • You’ll work on state-of-the-art GenAI applications, from consumer products to industrial use cases, guiding a crucial technological transformation with our customers.
  • You’ll collaborate with researchers, other AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer projects involving fine-tuning, state-of-the-art LLM applications, and contributing to open-source codebases for tasks such as inference and fine-tuning.
  • You’ll participate in pre-sales calls to understand potential clients' needs, challenges, and aspirations, and provide technical guidance on our products and technologies.
  • You’ll collaborate with our product and science teams to continuously improve our product and model capabilities based on customer feedback.
About you
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You hold a PhD or master’s degree in AI/data science or you are self-made.
  • You have 7–10+ years as a technical individual contributor on AI-based products.
  • You have experience in fine-tuning LLMs and tackling advanced RAG or agentic use cases.
  • You have a deep understanding of machine learning and LLM algorithms.
  • You have a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and deploying AI-based products.
  • You have deployed or built products with large-scale user bases.
  • You have strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ideally you have:
    • Contributed to open-source projects in the LLM space.
    • Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Staff Engineer ML, or Staff Data Scientist.
