We are looking for a Finance Accountant to cover a 14-month maternity leave in our Direct to Consumer (D2C) accounting team. Reporting to the Finance Accounting Manager, the purpose of this role is to provide the following services:

 

  • Project work: Assist in setting up new revenue channels and support the business in launching D2C in other international territories.
  • Technical accounting: Manage the recognition of different revenue streams across multiple marketplaces in Europe.
  • Reporting and analysis: Oversee D2C sales reporting and implement processes to ensure accurate revenue reporting.
  • Compliance: Handle US GAAP, statutory accounting, external tax, and VAT reporting.
  • Audit support: Provide support for external audits and VAT preparation.

 

This is a remote-based role with the expectation of occasional travel to our Uxbridge office as needed.

 

A day in the life of the Finance Accountant, D2C:

Reporting:

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements for the Hasbro Direct to Consumer business.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Financial Planning and Local Finance.
  • Ensure reporting templates align with US GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Prepare final balance sheet reconciliations and monthly package files, identifying points for discussion and resolution.
  • Prepare, review, and approve journals, ensuring calculations are accurate and supporting documentation is of auditable quality.
  • Review all clearing, accrual, and prepayment accounts to ensure regular clearance.

Statutory Accounting:

  • Support markets in preparing statutory accounting across Europe.
  • Ensure statutory accounts reconcile with year-end reporting templates and are reviewed and approved by local management.

VAT, Corporate & Local Taxes:

  • Assist in preparing VAT returns, Intrastat, EC Sales lists, and other tax returns for various markets as needed.
  • Ensure D2C reporting follows Corporation Tax guidelines across Europe.
  • Maintain up-to-date transfer pricing documentation.

Audit & SOX:

  • Manage year-end audits for D2C accounting, liaising with SSPs and auditors to resolve queries.
  • Oversee SOX controls, including implementing remediation plans in line with agreed timetables.
  • Ensure all necessary corporate processes are followed.

Recharges:

  • Raise recharge requests for local costs to Hasbro SA, Hasbro European Trading Company, and other Group Companies.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or similar).
  • Experience in financial accounting and reporting, particularly with "big data".
  • Auditing experience.
  • Experience in multinational FMCG, licensing, or e-commerce.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in VAT returns preparation and reporting.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, including the ability to clearly summarize and present information to management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
