The Role:As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in our rapidly growing team. You will be directly supporting key commercial, operational, and strategic decisions makers across the business. You will apply the appropriate solution to the problem at hand. This could be advanced statistical techniques (Hierarchical Bayesian modelling, GAMs), AI and machine learning techniques (LLMs, neural networks) or simple arithmetic. The key is to deliver useful and timely information for the benefit of Cox Automotive Europe and the broader automotive industry.

We are seeking a highly skilled and curious individual who can apply advanced analytical techniques and collaborate with business functions to solve business and customer problems. Your insights will directly influence major decisions for car manufacturers, dealer groups, and leasing companies, as well as driving data-driven decision making for Cox Automotive. You'll collaborate with a talented team, using open-source tools such as R, Python, and Spark, data visualisation tools like Power BI, and Databricks data platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement analytics strategies that provide actionable insights for our business and clients.
  • Apply the scientific method to create robust, reproducible solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytical solutions, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights and inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize algorithms on various platforms.
  • Prepare data for analysis with the data engineering team, ensuring data is modelled, transformed, and cleansed effectively.
  • Integrate data into company-wide tools for exploration and analysis, working closely with BI analysts, analytics engineers, and data engineers.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends by exploring new technologies, techniques, and tools, sharing knowledge internally and externally.
  • Troubleshoot data issues to ensure seamless delivery of business-critical information.
  • Promote data science across the business, aiding in internal training and knowledge sharing sessions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical data insights into business-friendly language.
  • Qualification in a quantitative discipline or significant hands-on experience in data-driven decision-making.
  • Curiosity to understand and analyse business problems to find data-enabled solutions
  • Excellent data visualization skills using tools like Tableau or Power BI (Power BI preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proven track record in fast-paced environments, managing workloads and meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong collaborative spirit, working seamlessly with team members and external clients.
  • Proficiency in R or Python.
  • Solid understanding of SQL; experience working with Spark (Java, Python, or Scala variants) and cloud platforms like Databricks is a plus.
  • Strong statistical knowledge, including hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and A/B testing.
  • Ability to understand and communicate the commercial impact of data activities.
