Senior Data Analyst - SQL & Python

Senior Data Analyst – Fraud Analytics

Creative Assembly is looking for a PowerBI and SQL ninja with deep knowledge of games and our products to come and support our Game Data Analytics & Insights.

As part of the Analytics & Insights team, you’ll report to the Analytics & Insights Manager and work across all our projects in the studio. It’s a critical role that will help ensure SEGA, Studio Leadership, Game Designers, Brand and Community/PX teams have the best tooling, analysis and insights possible to understand how people play, buy, and talk about our games.

Key responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the studio and at SEGA
  • Read game design documentation to understand the core loops of our games
  • Collect requirements for and plan new game, finance, and brand reporting, tooling and automation
  • Build and maintain dashboards using PowerBI and Databricks SQL
  • Produce analysis and insights for our Launch Report and Key Player Metrics processes
  • Work with our data engineers to design, build and maintain reporting data pipelines
  • Produce ad-hoc analysis on everything from player preferences, balancing, sentiment, title ownership and beyond
  • Be able to organise and plan your workload semi-independently, managing multiple responsibilities and demands at once.

From time to time, you may:

  • Be asked to produce analysis, insights, or viz/dashboarding for our Production Intelligence data

  • Power BI
  • Databricks

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Love video games and are highly motivated by the chance to play a key role in their production
  • Have 4 years of experience working with data as an analyst or BI engineer
  • Are curious, with keen attention to detail and low tolerance for errors and can spot trends, risks and opportunities
  • Are an expert in PowerBI and DAX and understand efficient data modelling
  • Make good looking, clean and easy to understand data visualizations
  • Know your way around a PowerPoint deck, are comfortable presenting findings to senior people, and can explain complex things in simple terms by crafting compelling data stories
  • Can write complex and efficient SQL queries
  • Understand key game KPIs like DAU, MAU, ARPU, Steam Scores, Attach rates, etc
  • Good soft skills – you communicate well in person and online, and are comfortable talking to all different kinds of people across our project teams
  • Are well organized – you get stuff done
  • Are a creative problem solver – you come up with and suggest creative ways to tackle problems

Desirable

  • Are a Total War or Alien: Isolation superfan
  • Understand the game development cycle and are familiar with different monetization models or have previous experience in the industry
  • Are comfortable writing Python scripts for data wrangling and API interaction
  • Have previously worked with Databricks as an analyst
  • Know how to do CI/CD with data products built on Databricks or Fabric
  • Understand how to use Jira and Confluence
  • Know the difference between descriptive and inferential statistics and when to use them
  • Hold a valid PL-300 or Databricks Certified Data Analyst Associate
  • Have previous experience in consulting or research experience
