What will you do in this role?
The Head of Data Science & AI Delivery is responsible the overall AI delivery function, supporting both strategic project deliverables and standalone use cases. You will lead the successful completion of projects – directing technical resources to design, build, test and monitor AI solutions, but also overseeing stakeholder management for projects. At the project level, you will work closely with AXIS’s Business Technology Solutions to drive solution architecture and deliver y, and with the Program Office to plan deliveries, providing timelines, cost estimates and status updates.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Creative Solutions: Work closely with business stakeholders and the team to help devise innovative solutions to real business problems.

  • Project Management: Direct technical resources to design, build, test, and monitor AI solutions, and oversee stakeholder management.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with AXIS’s Business Technology Solutions for solution architecture and delivery, and with the Program Office for planning deliveries, providing timelines, cost estimates, and status updates.

  • Team Leadership: Lead a growing team of Data Scientists and AI Engineers to foster an effective team culture.

  • Resource Planning: Track project pipelines, estimate costs and manage associated resource planning.

  • Monitoring: Oversee thorough monitoring frameworks for deployed solutions.

  • Architectural Integration: Help refine and implement the AI technology stack at AXIS.

  • Technology Vision: Stay current with AI, ML, and GenAI technologies, inspiring technical and academic rigor in AI delivery.

  • Risk Management: Ensure all projects are delivered in a responsible manner, and that appropriate controls are implemented to mitigate any potential risk


About You:

What you need to have:

  • Experience leading teams to deliver successful outcomes and a great culture

  • Excellent communication skills and experience in handling complex challenges with senior stakeholders

  • Ability to work in a fast - paced environment, managing multiple priorities and driving the team to deliver at the highest level

  • Strong project management skills, including resource estimation, progress tracking, and meeting deadlines.

  • Experience designing and implementing AI solutions, primarily with a focus on Generative AI, but also covering more traditional machine learning solutions

  • Strong knowledge of Azure AI solutions and Azure Databricks

  • Interest in AI technology, with a predilection for reading, researching, and staying informed.


What we prefer you to have:

  • Technical background, with experience working in a relevant data science delivery field.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Python, deployment pipelines, Databricks, foundational LLMs, etc.

  • Experience delivering end - to - end GenAI solutions in a corporate environment.


Role Factors:
In this role, you will typically be required to:

  • Attend your local office at least two days per week to meet and build relationships with colleagues and the wider business.

  • Engage in company activities to grow your network and build a strong team culture.

  • Travel internationally on occasion, as required by the role.
