Team/Role Overview

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function within Independent Risk Management is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the principles articulated in Citi’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and for the performance of specific enterprise-level risk management programs and processes that span the organization, the lines of defense and risk categories. These programs and processes include risk identification, risk appetite and limits, risk frameworks and policy, enterprise risk analytics / stress testing, new activity risk management, strategic risk management and climate risk pillars. The Head of ERM also oversee the Risk Transformation and reports directly to the Citigroup Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

As part of the Data Transformation team for the ERM function, you will be part of a team responsible to establish, maintain, and communicate the Enterprise Risk Data and Tech transformation Management data strategy; define scope and requirements; oversee delivery of technology implementation roadmaps, ensuring that both business and regulatory requirements are met; and drive implementation and adoption of consistent data management standards and capabilities to support the ERMF adoption across the enterprise and relevant businesses / functions / regions.

This role sits within the ERM Data Transformation team, focused on the buildout of the foundational reporting data architecture in line with Citi's Data transformation journey. The focus will be to design and implement target state infrastructure and data flows to support our Enterprise risk functions including board and senior management reporting. This will include understanding the current and developing critical data element requirements for ERM Regulatory reporting, and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data as its travels from source ( system or record) to output usage (, endpoint consumption). In addition, the individual will assist in strengthening data governance across the ERM systems, aligning to new and related data management policies, guidelines and procedures.

This role requires excellent data analysis skills, in addition to strong presentation / communication skills, in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas.

What you'll do

Drive execution of the transformation efforts for Citi data governance policy alignment and data strategy for critical ERM regulatory, risk and business decisioning reports with specific focus on BCBS-239 reports

Partner with data consumers to agree on the scope of report data requirements, critical data elements, data quality challenges, and success criteria of the effort

Analyze data lineage documentation and support the creation of data and system flow documentation and process maps

Support the updates for key data capabilities including metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage, business process maps, and training materials with the data and system process flows

Partner with business data owners required to ensure maintenance of key artifacts and overall data quality improvements

Consolidate disparate information about the data, as well as ensure a sustainable understanding of how data flows through operational and analytic platforms and assist Data owner in institutionalizing an enhanced understanding of information assets at granular, and aggregate level

Identify data quality “hot spots” or points of control breaks. Determine strategies to improve data quality controls and monitoring routines to de-risk points of data quality vulnerabilities using EDO approved tools and solutions

Institute and manage change management processes related to data and system flow documentation and related data governance procedures

Identify and support opportunities continuously to streamline and simplify the execution of data transformation initiatives and data capabilities

Be a trusted and informed advisor / partner to regional teams and lines of business staff members

Prepare and present status updates and solutions to stakeholders, business partners, and technology teams in a concise manner to drive decisions and actions

Drive meetings and working sessions to solve issues, challenges, and risks by factoring input from business and technology partners and diverse points of view

Provides user and operational support including documentation of business / data requirements using Agile methodologies and Sprint iterative development

Understand current data handling processes and business requirements to help determine new and innovative ways to provide end-to-end data flow solutions

Address potential barriers to timely execution before they impact the delivery, communicate potential risks and plans to mitigate issues and concerns

Project Management – Track, execute, and report against the Use Case Plan / Business Critical milestone, deliverables, and activities

Support the transformation leads for development of communication materials and presentations for senior management, including Data councils, Operating Committee, EMT members or other key stakeholders as required

What we'll need from you

Extensive experience in Banking or Finance; Risk experience is required

Highly experienced in leading complex and large-scale changing initiatives or/and data intensive projects

Execution oriented self-starter who can work independently and with limited supervision

Experienced and adept at working with remote and global teams

Strong business analysis competency with hands on experience in data analysis and lineage. Experience with data governance preferred

Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences

Collaborates effectively by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives

Ability to gain confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity

Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills across a variety of stakeholders up to Director/MD levels

Demonstrates ability to balance between understanding the “big picture” while paying close attention to detail

Organizational savvy: understands systems, management processes, knows where to go for information and how to interpret them

Working knowledge of Citi’s Data Governance Policy or Operating Model preferred

Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
